A reflective piece on overwhelm, nervous system restoration, the importance of community, nature, and intentional replenishment during busy lives.
How are you feeling after a few weeks back at work ๐ค?
My own eco-system has been more than a little chaotic
โ๏ธ snow disrupted several personal and professional plans
๐โโ๏ธ I let go of the things I hadn't got to over the break
๐ ๏ธ I dealt with a couple of unplanned repairs at home
๐ญ storm Goretti cancelled a group trip to Theatre Clywd that I had been looking forward to.
None of these were traumatic in themselves, but coupled with moving back into a work routine, onboarding new clients, work on my Embodiment Coaching Certificate and starting a new year, it felt like a lot.
I described it to one group like being put in a dark wash ๐งบ with tissues in my pockets (if you know, you know).
So I really needed our annual book club Christmas picnic and walk yesterday. Yes, it was cold and Christmas is well behind us, but it provided what I needed:
๐ฅ Community and belonging
๐ Sharing about life in all its forms
๐ฅ Delicious food everyone prepared
๐ Blue sky and sparkly frost
๐ณ Movement in nature
I feel topped up and my nervous system is thanking me for prioritising social engagement when I could easily have hibernated at home.
I hope everyone is having a little glimmer of restoration this weekend, however small that might be.
And one nudge, I wonder if you might stop and notice your energy moving into February before getting stuck into your diary and responsibilities.
How are you doing?
What's one thing that would make next week feel better for YOU?
