How I work

My approach is tailored to the needs of each client but it is always based on developing a productive partnership which helps those I work with to grow in competence and confidence.  I help my clients to understand and to build on their strengths and achievements because we often focus too much on the things that went less well.  I am often brought in by organisations or senior managers when there is a challenging goal to be delivered or a significant change is planned.

Sometimes I work in the role of facilitator, designing and facilitating strategy and planning events that deliver clear outputs.  I also work as a consultant bringing stakeholders together to design and deliver change that has the right impact.  Often I work as a coach, supporting leaders and their teams through their own transitions and enabling them to be more resourceful.

I enjoy creating environments where people gain new insights, identify changes they want to make and how they’ll do that and leave feeling more equipped to deliver their goals.

I spend time volunteering for organisations that align with my values.  I’m involved in a number of initiatives with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development to help those in the profession to continually grow and share their learning.  I am a member of the CIPD Manchester Branch Committee with responsibility for the HR Business Group.  I’ve also been volunteering with the GC Business Growth Hub in Manchester for 2 years working with business owners at every level to support growth across the region.

A unique blend of skills

My blend of business management, organisational development, change and programme management skills can often give me a different perspective on business challenges.  I have led globally dispersed teams and I understand how businesses work and how to translate organisational development theory into practice.

I believe in lifelong learning and I love exploring new practice and theories.  I am a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development (CIPD), an Associate Certified Coach with the International Coach Federation (ICF) and I hold a Level 7 Certificate in Professional Consulting from the Institute of Consulting (IC).  My MA in Strategic HRM focussed on leadership in a global setting. I am an accredited Strengthscope® and StrengthscopeTeam™facilitator.

I have had great feedback from my work with managers and leaders at all levels to deliver transformational change, restructures, performance improvement and leadership development programmes.

My background

I have led projects and programmes in challenging contexts, engaging dispersed teams to deliver outcomes that meet the requirements of multiple stakeholders.  I apply project management disciplines to my work which keeps me focussed.

I have worked in people and organisational development for over 12 years and specialised in leadership for my MA.  My achievements include designing leadership and technical skills models and development programmes that delivered a step change in capability.  I successfully embedded HR into the business at every level in a complex global setting, introducing a true business partnering approach.  My work with commercial leadership teams has demonstrated that I can provide the right people solutions at the right time.  I have led mergers, restructures and downsizing programmes.

As a Change Manager I led global transformations of operating models, support functions and customer relationship management approaches to make them more efficient and impactful.  My strengths lie in supporting leaders to lead their teams through change and in stakeholder engagement.  I have worked with leaders in corporates, global organisations, SMEs and Mico-Businesses across the public, private and third sectors to deliver measurable improvements.
